Succession planning, recruiting, and hiring are a significant part of managing an organization.  In these unusual times when resources are stretched, it is especially important to pay attention to these matters and the impact they have on successfully fulfilling the organization’s mission.  This workshop will answer the following questions:

  1. Why succession planning doesn’t only refer to the Executive Director or CEO.
  2. Why is succession planning important at all levels of an organization?
  3. What are the components of a successful recruiting and hiring process and how can we set the stage to identify, recruit, and hire strong candidates quickly?
  4. Who within the organization and/or board should be involved in the hiring process?
  5. How can we manage the hiring process so that it doesn’t take up too much time?
  6. With so many people currently in the market for jobs, how can we be sure a candidate is a good match and has the right skills for our job?
  7. How can we compete in the marketplace and hire strong candidates when our salary structure is modest?
  8. What can we do to ensure that the candidate we select accepts the offer?
  9. What can we do to make sure a new hire starts out on the right foot?
  10. How do we avoid making a hiring mistake?

This workshop is designed for Executive Directors and other senior level executives who manage the inevitable hiring issues that arise in an organization.  Nonprofit board chairs who anticipate a change in executive leadership will also benefit from this workshop.
